Despite being an almost entirely trivial individual, Jonn Elledge has spent his career as a journalist almost entirely covering desperately weighty subjects in politics and finance. To compensate for this he contributes to The Sharpener, although his own blog Atlantic Rift seems to have gone to the great blog hosting in the sky. He has also written for the New Statesman, and was a contributing editor to ak13.

Stephen Lavington is a writer, academic, editor and Camden Leisure Pirate.

J Clive Matthews is Nosemonkey, the chap behind the surprisingly popular Anglo-European political weblog Europhobia, in which capacity he has found himself being praised and quoted by the likes of 'The Times', 'Newsweek', 'The Guardian', 'The Financial Times', 'Slate' and 'The Politics Show', and being invited for interview by both CNN and the BBC. He's also co-founder of cross-party group blog The Sharpener, and has been featured in the book '2005: Blogged' (ed. Tim Worstall). In the real world he writes for a living, co-authoring two books with Shiny Shelf's Jim Smith (on Tim Burton and 'The Lord of the Rings'), has copy edited a number of non-fiction books on everything from Michelangelo's finances to sexual abuse in care homes, and has contributed articles to publications as diverse as 'Starburst' and 'The Times Literary Supplement'. His day job is in the editorial department of a British history and travel magazine, and he writes regular film previews for an agency supplying a range of British local newspapers. Unusually for a Shiny Shelf contributor, he doesn't rate 'Doctor Who' in the slightest.

After dossing about at art college for a couple of years back in the late 80s, Mags L Halliday did a degree in the History of Art, Design and Film and started post-graduate studies on Popular Culture specialising in fandom dynamics. She now works in technology for museums and industry, which shows you the value of a humanities academic path. She is also the author of two historical SF/Fantasy novels and some other
bits and pieces of stuff.
